BreathEasy builds tools for organizations that need software to do a specific job well and then stay out of the way. Ledger came out of running our own books and being unwilling to keep paying for features we never touched.
Why we built Ledger
Every accounting package we tried made the same trade: a huge feature surface, a matching monthly bill, and an automation layer that quietly categorized things nobody checked. That works for a finance department. It does not work for a small business owner who wants to know where the money went and wants the year-end handoff to be boring.
So Ledger is deliberately narrow. Import the data your bank already exports. Put every transaction in front of a person once. Let rules absorb the repetition. Produce reports a preparer can read without a phone call. That is the product.
We price it by quote because setup varies more than the software does. A single-account business and a five-entity operation need different amounts of our time, and we would rather quote honestly than publish a number that fits neither.
